In 2014 at the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) out of 78 entrants, Delamain Pale & Dry X.O received the two highest distinctions: A Gold Outstanding Medal and the Cognac Trophy. The Cognac Trophy is awarded to the best of the best; the top scoring cognacs are put forward to an additional panel of top IWSC judges, where they are then blind tasted again and the best Cognac is awarded the title of Cognac Trophy. Judges tasting notes: "The opening note is an elegant and floral nose. On the palate this is joined by dried fruit, with tropical fruit entering the mix towards the end, adding good acidity and paving the way to a long fruit-laden finish."
Also in 2014 at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge Delamain Pale & Dry X.O received the two highest distinctions; Extraordinary, Ultimate Recommendation with a rating of 96 points, as well as the Chairman's Trophy for the best Cognac in the challenge. Judges tasting notes: "Soft aromas of white grape juice and chrysanthemum are very pleasing. Creamy and rich on the palate with tastes of light caramel and baking spices, butter and pastry cream. Toffee notes persist on the lingering finish."
