Award winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well crafted bourbon. Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale. 8.2% ABV. Each bottle 355ml.

Alltech’s Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company — better known as Kentucky Ale — in downtown Lexington, have been brewing award-winning beers since 2000. Their family of beers include Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout and the renowned Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. They began distilling several years later, and have since developed a line of spirits including Bluegrass Sundow, Pearse Lyons Reserve, and Town Branch Bourbon.

Aromas of juicy plums marry with notes of herb and rich cedar in our elegant 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep flavors of blackberry and tobacco give this wine excellent balance, with oak aging adding a toasty, caramelized quality. With a smooth finish, this Cabernet Sauvignon is approachable and delicious with a variety of foods. Enjoy this wine with grilled lamb chops, barbecued ribs, or spicy Bolognese pasta. VINTAGE The Lodi area had above-average rainfall going into the 2012 growing season. Springtime development was only slightly behind the historical average, despite the slow start. Continuing into summer and fall, mild weather resulted in smaller-than-normal cluster weights and below- average yields, leading to more concentrated and intense flavor for the grapes. Harvest took place slightly later than average for most varieties. GROWING REGION We harvest the majority of our grapes from the Lodi American Viticultural Area (AVA), one of the first recognized winegrowing appellations in California. Grapes from this region give the wine a lush, fruit-focused personality. Sunny days are tempered by cool breezes from the San Joaquin Delta, helping to develop abundant fruitiness in the grapes. The region’s unique sandy clay loam soils, some up to 40 feet deep, are very light and highly organic. WINEMAKING To achieve optimum flavor maturity and sugar-to-acid balance, we gently crushed the grapes immediately after harvesting. The must (juice and skins) was fermented with a selected yeast strain in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks until dry. Syrah and Petite Sirah were added to enhance the wine’s spicy finish and add a touch of blackberry flavor. A small amount of Merlot and Petit Verdot were added to boost the wine’s rich mouthfeel. After primary fermentation, the wine was pressed to retain fruit-focused expression and aged with French and American oak, adding a nice sweet oak spiciness.
